What are Field Demos?
We're looking for lighting projects in Minnesota where adding networked lighting controls exceeds the budget. In exchange for participating in a pilot study, we can help offset incremental costs for luminaire-level lighting controls.
Your customers will have a solution which reduces energy usage and enables flexibility for enhancing building occupant comfort. You will gain experience with a lower-risk lighting controls system that has a simpler installation process than other types of lighting controls. You and your customer may gain media exposure through your contributions, if the pilot leads to publication of a case study showcasing system features and benefits, installation comparisons, occupant experiences, or energy savings.
Requirements
We're looking for projects which would not include advanced controls if not for this opportunity for financial support.
The project site must have windows or skylights, as daylight harvesting is necessary to maximize energy savings. For published case studies, involved parties must be willing and able to fulfill the following requirements: accommodate tours and visitors with reasonable ease, permit temporary reconfiguration of system programming for energy analysis and temporary installation of meters for energy analysis, and give input on their experiences before and after installation.
Due to the possibility of longer lead times for LLLC components, projects which are planned to accommodate this are best suited for this pilot program.
The lighting control system used for the project must be listed for LLLC on the Design Lights Consortium’s Qualified Product List. Furthermore, the system must be installed and programmed in compliance with Minnesota’s current energy code, ASHRAE 90.1-2019, including daylight harvesting, auto-off timeouts, and manual-on, where relevant.
